All the Way to the Keys

To the Florida Keyskey west and other 229 key west and other 228 key west and other 227

I’ve lost count of how many time I’ve been in Key West and it is because driving the 175 miles to it (about 255km) from Miami, is worth it. About 22 bridges connect Miami and Key West through little islands, keys, tiny pieces of land; all above the ocean. But this trip gets even better if you rent a convertible, a jeep or RV. Florida keys maintain the perfect temperature all year long permitting you to stop in all the places this road offers: restaurants, cafes, bars, beaches, spots for fishing, perfect areas for snorkeling, shops and much more. Below, I will recommend some places to visit or things to do in each key; and don’t forget to enjoy the ride.

You will travel from Miami through the first key, the largest one (33 miles long)

Key Largo : Stop at John Pennekamp State Park for Family Snorkel Tours, canoeing, kayaking, beach access, glass bottom boat, RV camp

Tavernier: Great Marina to book a fishing tour

Islamorada: Visit the Bass Pro Shops and enjoy the restaurants: have a drink at the bar, sit in hammock, enjoy the music and the view, feed the tarpons, sharks or pelicans.

Duck Key (very little): Perfect to swim with dolphins at Duck Key Resort, beach, water park, restaurants, pool, bar.

Marathon Key: Bahia Honda State Park: Beautiful place for almost everything. It is on mile marker 37 and includes an RV campsite, beach access, fishing spots, snorkeling; you can even climb to an old bridge and enjoy the most spectacular sunsets.

Cross the Seven Mile Bridge to Key West (your final destination)

Key West: Before entering Key West there are several RV Camps, once in Key West you won’t find any. Key West has EVERYTHING and more- Duval Street has it all. The best way to spend your days in Key West is by renting a golf car or scooters. Parking is expensive.

Go wild: let the adventurer inside of you out; Florida Keys is the place to do it!!!!!

San Antonio, Texas- as every city- has its own way to captivate residents and visitors. San Antonio is a synonym of Fiesta.

Two hours later, we arrived in San Antonio. Our charming hotel was right on the Riverwalk.

San Antonio is full of energy, its Riverwalk  is considered the “American Venice,” it is  romantic, historic, cozy, and inviting.

First thing first: Stroll the Riverwalk (two and a half miles) all day long, crossing the many bridges. There is so much to see and do: cafes, restaurants, shops, and shows. Once tired, get on a Riverwalk taxi to enjoy the view from another point.

Later, we visited The Mall, and La Villita; we found out there was going to be a show at night in the Arneson River Theater and bought tickets to it. What a spectacular show!!! Fiesta Noche del Rio (summer show with sights and sounds of musical extravaganza, flamenco, mariachi, typical songs and dances from Spain, Argentina, Caribbean, Mexico and Texas).

The Market Square                           Day 3

This day we chose to visit some of The Missions: Mission San Jose, Mission Cocepcion, Mission Espada; all of them represent the Spanish influence in our culture.

Day 4 – Last Day

Natural Bridge Caverns and River Adventure.  No, it is not a tour!!! We drove to the caverns  and visited them on our own. On the way back to the city, we saw the river and people jumping in… pf course, we did the same. Unexpected, super fun!!!

We landed into Boston, rented a car and headed to Cape Cod.

IMG_9999Part #1 Cape Cod ( mini road trip around Cape Cod) Cape Cod has many cute spots for you to explore, but the best one is around The National Seashore to have some fun in the Dunes. For small price you can access all the beaches on the coast and enjoy the huge piles of sand.

Keep driving to end of the Cape, to Provincetown: enjoy this cute town full of shops and restaurants. Pay attention to the tides  and while you are in this area, visit the light houses, they all take several hours to be reach, so you must plan which one you want to do first. I choose Wood End southwest end of Long Point in Provincetown, Massachusetts. You feel, your walking above the water.

Part #2 Back in the main land, we headed back to Boston. Visited the Salem museum and went to Plymouth where the first pilgrims arrived from England, we visited the Mayflower, the Rock and the smelled pines aroma everywhere we went.(this trip is gorgeous during fall season)

Next Stop: Cape Elizabeth, Maine. I have no words to describe the beauty of this place. Look at the pics.

Proxima Parada: Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

There is a lot to do in Maine: Mouse watching tours, many seaside town all of them worth a visit, so you need to be selective and decide for your self which ones you would like to spend time on and which ones you will just stop for few hours before continue to your net stop.

The Smoky National Park

  • Prepare your trip ahead of time, The Smoky National Park can be dangerous during winter months. Many roads are close and cabins tended to be sold out fast. There are several good logging options, in North Carolina and in Tennessee, both will give you access to the park. Helpful information about the park:
  • I choose Tennessee just because Gatlinburg (town) offers a lot to do and see. There is also Pigeon Forge (sister town) and many RV campgrounds in both towns.
  • In Gatlinburg you have endless options: luxury cabins(with pools, spa, theater), economic cabins, higher cabins, cabins and hotels near the river, cabins with lots of rooms or few rooms and many more. Good information here:,,

  • Divide your map, in parts (days) so you won’t skip anything. There is a lot to do and see!!!
  • Always take snacks, and drinks with you.
  • Fill your car with gas before go.
  • Begin with the classic picture of the sign entrance (main road)

Miami, Sunshine City

Miami, Sunshine City

Miami /Part 2
Hi folks! Ready for another tour of Miami? Here we go!!!
What to do in Miami?
If you are looking for beaches here I will suggest you my favorite spots:1. Virginia Key  is a 863-acre barrier island in Miami, Florida, United States in Biscayne Bay, south of Brickell and north of Key Biscayne. It accessible from the mainland via the Rickenbacker Causeway. (it has 2 entrance across the street from Miami Sea aquarium,. they charge a fee)
Thee first entrance coming from the city, the beach itself is better, the water is clear, has a little playground for kids and if you drive all the way to the end of the park you will be fascinate with the view, park your car and walk through a path under beautiful trees , once there you will see the cruises set sail and you can still swim a clear/deeper waters, there are also starfish for you to admired. This part of the park it is also great for biking and it has larger BBQ areas .
The second entrance, its better for kayaking, and there is also areas for BBQ.
2.Another great spot will be Crandon Park all the way at the end of Biscayne Key. There are several beaches in this area, but the one I like most is the last beach(it also has an entrance fee) Here in Miami we called it, El Farito (lighthouse), but the real name is Cape Florida LightHouse which is open to the public. What I like about this beach is that offers a lot to do, rent a single bike, a duo bike or a fun bike(up to 5 people) and explore the beach. Spend the day by the water, go fish, bring or rent a kayak, paddle your favorite board, go parasailing, have lunch on your own in one of the BBQ areas or at the café. Later enjoy the sunset while having late lunch or dinner at Boater’s Grill while you will be delighted with boaters coming in and out of the bay.
3. My next spot brings me in land to Sunny Isles Area .Head to the parking at Newport Hotel and enjoy the waves of our ocean, and  white sand. What is special about this beach?: the pier that takes you to a wonderful fishing spot, delicious mojito and great food .The Pier has limited parking but there are plenty  public parking nearby or you can always use the hotel parking.4. Haulover Beach and Marina: Book your fishing trip or rent a boat and visit a sand dune.We still at the beach since to me is the best option when visiting Miami, lets talk about beach nights and Places to go:

A must see is Lincoln Road. It is a group of streets full of restaurants to choose from, any kind of food your graving for, you’ll find it here, then you have museums, stores, lots of interaction with street performances. At one end of the street you’ll have a the bay full of boats, while at the other end you’ll have the beach full of  arts and craft vendors.
Few block further, visit Espanola Way very similar to Lincoln Road but smaller in size.
South Beach Night Life: walk through Collins Ave. finding night clubs and famous Mango’s Café for an active night.
Bayside: It is like a commercial center near the water, with open spaces for the performers, musicians, dancers, and  tremendous ambiance. This is a place for ages, there is something for everybody to do.  Boat Tour leave the docks to visit millionaires mansions, others offer cruising the bay just as a sightseeing. The speed boat tours its also an attraction, carriages, Casino Cruises, stores, restaurants.
Across from Bayside we have the American Lines Arena where there are concerts, Sport games, and many other events every month.
Enjoy this pics of me and my family enjoying Beach Life in Miami, during summer or winter is always fun!!!

My City

My City

Miami/Part 1
When talking about Miami the first thing that comes to my mind is the clear waters of its beaches, the sun, the boats, and of course the variety of restaurants and food, the night life and my favorite: the cruises. Miami is a great travel destination, we receive visitors from all over the world, the warm beaches invite travelers and residents to the most spectacular hotels in South Beach, and /or to get on a three to seven day cruise from one of the largest ports in the world: the port of Miami, the capital of the cruises. I leave you guys with some views of my city. Enjoy!!!
