The Second Best Thing To Do. La Segunda Mejor Cosa Para Hacer

It is a Personal Opinion!!!!

It is not new to my followers, and to the people that know me well, that I’m a people-person. I don’t enjoy being by myself for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, I need my time once in a while; but I do like being with people. Whether I know them or not, I will establish some type of dialog just to make new friends and have a conversation. The second best thing to do is just being with friends and families and spending quality time together.  We are a group of people that get together by the beach, just to enjoy the company of each other, laugh, talk about trips we’ve taken, have some wine, and swim in the middle of the night. After all, the best wine is the one you drink with your friends.

Spending time with people is a beautiful thing!

Essentials That Will Help You Save $$$. Cosas Escenciales Que Te Ahorraran $$$.

In no particular order these are Essentials you can’t forget, just because they can help you save some time and a few bucks here and there.

  1. You should carry an empty bottle of water at all times. It is very convenient when finding a water fountain for a free refill. Even when you buy your wine or any liquor, at a market/store, you can always save the bottle’s left overs inside your convenient bottle. I found a good one, that can be folded when it’s empty that way I also save space in my bag.
  2. Poncho or raincoat: For every trip, my poncho is with me. I remember those rainy days in Italy and the umbrellas I ended up buying because the rain/wind wouldn’t stop. Since then, I suggest to my followers to fold a cheap raincoat or poncho in their suitcase for weather emergencies. It doesn’t take up space in your luggage, yet will save you from headaches and a couple of $$.
  3. It doesn’t matter which country you are visiting, try to have some available cash in their native currency to avoid lines at a bank, delays at airports, and transactional fees. Look for an exchange place ahead of time, check what will they charge you for every $, do your math, and establish a budget having some singles/ short money in your pocket to handle in any case. Also keep in mind not all the places are open, don’t have sufficient amount, or may only carry large bills (very inconvenient) at the time you might need the cash.
  4. Scarf: As I mentioned in another post, the scarf has saved my outfit from being wet, for being inappropriate for some temples and churches, has saved me from the chillier weather, and has decorated my bags. So in all these cases, it has saved me some time and extra money.
  5. Go Pro, Selfie Sticks, Phone and Phone Water Proof Cover are part of my travel tools. With these 4 essentials, I don’t care if I forgot the camera or the laptop. Everything I need is in these 4 pieces. They are easy to carry, to store, and to use. I don’t have to ask anyone to take a picture or video of me. I can check my emails and be aware of my flight, train, and hotel information. You can check words and phrases in other languages and download a map application of the city/country you are in. Note: For some travelers a physical dictionary and map will be better.
  6. Earplugs or Headphones: To me they are a must. Just the fact that you need to pay for them in some airlines makes me remember to take them with me everywhere I go. It saves some bucks and I need them to concentrate on my work while traveling.
  7. Last but certainly not least: the Hidden Passport/Money Purse I carry it under my shirt in some countries to avoid pick-pocketing. (If you look at the picture, it’s the red square below the poncho.) Extremely convenient and leaves you worry-free.

These items are not the only ones you need on any trip, but are some of the most needed ones when exploring new countries, cultures and places. I hope I was able to provide you with some good tips and ideas for your next travel experience.

Keep traveling!

3 Must Do’s When Abroad| 3 Cosas que debes hacer mientras viajas.

  • Try local and new food: Don’t be a picky eater and try new and local food! This establishes a connection with the culture and its people. When trying “strange food” you feel like a baby, at first it’s a weird, scary feeling, but little by little you adapt and feel more comfortable with it.  If traveling with kids, expose them to new food items, don’t be afraid that you guys are gonna get sick, just try it! (of course you are not going to eat in a place your instincts don’t trust) Look for clean places!!!!Long trips give you the opportunity to mature and learn how to open to a new gastronomical aspect.
  • Blend with the locals:  Trying new foods is just the beginning but blending with locals is a must! You feel like you have visited the country! People and culture with its similarities and differences make a country. Dance, eat, live and work with them. Listen to their stories, what they do for a living, their traditions, etc.. The fascinating world of culture differences, and the history behind them will help you understand why this mixture is needed in the world. The more I travel around different continents, the more I respect its people. Become one of them.
  • Take lots of pictures: When that moment is gone, there is no way back; it’s gone forever, so my advice to you is to take your camera everywhere you go and shut, shut, shut. Better safe than sorry. Treasure those moments before you move to your next destination. Capture the faces. They are so different from all around the globe!!! If traveling with children, you will see them grow through pictures. The experience you have together: with new people, your partner, your family, yourself it’s a reward that you will carry with you all your life.

Laugh often, enjoy your trip, keep traveling. 🙂

Buscando mi Rumbo| Finding my Way

How lucky we are when we find what we really like to do and we are able to it. This blog is just the beginning of a dream of mine. Although I’ve traveled, I know I’m a tourist and not the truly traveler I would like to be. I’m working on that, looking for a more flexible path that gives the freedom I want. I am not saying I am not happy, I am happy ( there are two different things). I’ve been blessed to have with me the family I’ve created it and they follow me everywhere I go, but I need more. Travel frees something inside me that seems to be trapped, I want to go without rush, with out knowing the day of the week, with out calendars or a watch. And even do solo travel it is not my thing, I hope one day we all (my family) can buy that only ticket(one way) we need.
