Is Wadi Rum in your bucket list?

I’ll try to convince you that Wadi Rum should be on your bucket list.

The trip is one in  a life time. Red sand dunes, jeep safari , camel rides, hot air balloons rides over the desert, and lots of culture awaits you in Jordan. Jordanians, on the other hand, are friendly and willing to teach you their dances and how they cook at one of their many Bedouin campsite. We stayed at Bait Ali Camp and couldn’t have a better stayed anywhere else. Great location. We were treated with respect. The place is clean, full of activities and the tents are in good conditions( I do suggest you take your towels and your soap, shampoo). The food is delicious and the have music every night. When it gets dark, we get to see how the food in done underground cook(I particularly enjoyed this experience very much) Wine, excellent food and good company is all you need for a warmer night (the desert gets cold at night)

Day Trip to Bruges-Un dia en Brujas

While in Belgium, we visited Brussels and Bruges.  Today I will tell you a little bit about Bruges.

A fast train ride from Brussels took us to Bruges.  In about one hour and ten minutes we were there. Getting to the city center from the train terminal was also very easy and a pleasant walk through cobble streets, small, cute houses, canals, and cozy chocolate stores always well decorated. Depend of the season and holidays, you will be able to enjoy the designs this artists make in their store windows.  But perhaps what we liked most, was their famous Lake of Love. Full of swans, and  with its Lovers Bridge, the Lake of Love is a perfect place for picnics and romance. Lush vegetation, gardens and a beautiful park around the area makes the Lake a very desirable place. Several restaurants, some, facing the lake, are in this area as well. Great option for lunch and or dinner.

We continued our walking through the beautiful city streets, passing the church of Our lady Bruges, then we decided on a boat ride. Only 7 euros per person! Great Experience! Lucky us, the boat driver was an excellent historian, well known of the city and very funny.

We stooped for lunch and enjoyed some Belgium beers.

Later that afternoon, we visited Salvador Dali exhibition, (entrance 10.00 euros) and admired his fantastic collection of art and statues.

Bruges is a city to get lost and walk without specific direction, without making plans or write an itinerary . It’s a city to relax and breath the culture of the locals, a city to flavor chocolates and beer, to explore at your own pace, not rush is allow. Take your time to feel the ambiance of the place and enjoy the magic of the city.

Bruges is a worth day trip from Brussels. Highly recommended!

Fall in Boston | Otoño en Boston

img_5023

Walden Pond

September and October are the best times to travel to Boston (at least for me). The weather is just PERFECT. The fact that it’s not crazy cold, and yet, not hot at all makes it a great time to visit this gorgeous city. We flew during the day because I was advised that the view from the plane before landing was going to be incredible; It was! Red and orange trees covered all the land below us. I kept peering out my window trying to catch sight of a piece of land that didn’t have these stunning fall colors. It was impossible! Fall Season had arrived to the city of Boston.

Day 1:

Our trip began, with a walking tour of the city itself (we did it on our own, but you also have the option to purchase this tour. It’s called The Freedom Trail). The Boston tourist area (downtown area) has a path of bricks that will take you through the historic landmarks of the city. Following this cobblestone street we were able to visit: Faneuil Hall, King Chapel, Boston Common, Old City, and the Granary Cemetery, while encountering many museums and  churches along the way.

The Freedom Trail gives you photography opportunities of more than 16  American History Sites and the amazing architecture of the old buildings where the American Revolution took place. The 2.5 mile, red route ends in the marketplace, fabulous for the variety of food, drinks, stores, street performers and entertainment.

This tour can take an entire day, especially if you visit every building,  stop for lunch, enjoy a coffee or an ice cream, and do some shopping.

Late in the afternoon, a good idea is to enjoy the many street performances around Faneuil Hill.

Day 2:

Already time to hit the road! I was dying to see the colors of the season! We rented a car and followed The Mohawks Trail Scenic Drive, a beautiful 57 miles of nature. On our drive, we passed the cutest American towns you can imagine, enjoyed the magic of Walden Pond and the reflection of the trees in the water. Later we stopped at the French King Bridge to delight ourselves with the view of the Deerfield River; we had a great time playing with the fallen leaves and soon enough it was time to head back to Boston. Our day of exploring the autumn foliage was spectacular! I highly recommend this drive if you like this time of the year.

Day 3:

We combined a few things on our third day in Boston: a whale watching Tour in the morning, a visit to Harvard Square, and a picnic with a slow stroll through Boston’s Public Garden in the afternoon (beautiful park where many people celebrate their weddings).

Day 4:

We visited Plymouth, a town in Plymouth county Massachusetts. Lots of important moments of American History took place in this town. Here you can find the Plymouth Rock, a symbol of the place of the disembark of William Bradford and the Mayflower with the pilgrims who founded Plymouth Colony in 1620.

On our way back to Boston, we spotted some green trees (pines), we followed the delicious smell of pines and ended up picking our own apples that were growing just around the pines.

img_5025

Other day trips suggestions from Boston are: A visit to Salem and to Martha’s Vineyard (I’ve done them before but not combined with this particular trip.)

Day 5:

Visited the Fenway Park, home of The Red Sox Baseball Team; spent some time by the Charles River while enjoying the sailboats (regatta) that are always there.
